Steps to Save Emails To Onenote

The screenshots below show the former Email to OneNote setup. That service used me@onenote.com and is no longer the method to use. Keep these older screens in mind if you followed the original guide; the current Outlook equivalents are explained beside them:

  1. Previously, you would go to OneNote’s Email to OneNote page and click “Set up email to OneNote” to sign in. Today, open the message in Outlook and choose Apps > OneNote in new Outlook or Outlook on the web. In classic Outlook, use Send to OneNote on the open message’s ribbon.
  2. The old setup let you select an email address and a notebook and section for incoming notes. With Send to OneNote, choose the destination notebook and section in the task pane for the message you are saving.
  3. Save your selections.

Saving a message now happens inside Outlook, without forwarding it to a special address. Here are the steps:

  1. Open the email containing the information you want to save in OneNote.
  2. Choose Apps > OneNote in new Outlook or Outlook on the web, or Send to OneNote in classic Outlook.
  3. Select the destination notebook and section, then click Save.

To retrieve saved emails in OneNote, do the following:

  1. Open OneNote and locate the notebook and section where your email is saved.
  2. Click on the page with the same name as your email’s subject line.
  3. Review the saved email’s content and check any images and attachments you need before relying on the copy.
