Create a working outline with an opening, clear transitions, supporting evidence prompts, and a purposeful close. Edit the result to make it your own.
Instructions
- Enter Speech topic, Audience and What should listeners think or do?
- Choose Purpose and Planned speaking time (minutes).
- Enter Key points (one per line, up to 8), then select Build outline.
- Revise Editable outline and use Download edited outline or Print outline.
Understanding your results
The builder provides a structure with prompts for your opening, evidence, transitions and close. It does not research your topic or verify claims. Two to five main points often give a short talk enough room for examples; eight points may leave very little time for explanation.
What to do if your edited outline disappears after building again
Build outline replaces the editable result. Download the version you want to keep before rebuilding. Replace every evidence prompt with accurate material, and reserve questions separately if they are part of your session.
Using this tool in your browser
This tool handles your entries in your browser with JavaScript enabled and does not save them automatically. Use the download or print controls described in the instructions to keep a copy before closing or reloading the page. On a phone, your browser controls where downloads go and which print options are available.
Summary
Make the outline your own by connecting each section to a clear audience outcome.
More tips for your practice
- Write one specific audience outcome before building the outline.
- Enter two to five main points for a typical short speech; the builder accepts up to eight.
- Replace the evidence and example prompts with accurate material from your own research.
- Timing is a suggested allocation for speaking; reserve a separate question period if needed.
- Building again replaces the editable outline. Download your current version first if you want to keep it.
